Cheeky Fantail
Yesterday a cheeky little fantail flew into our classroom not just once, but twice! Today we wrote a poem about our fantail friend. Wow I am so impressed with the interesting language that the children in room 10 use.

Road Safety Rules
Our Police Education Officer, Mr Somerfield, has been teaching us lots of road safety messages this week. We got to see his Police car on Wednesday. Here is some of the children's writing...
Mr Somerfield came to teach us how to be safe around roads. The siren was shrieking! I didn't block my ears. Me and Eva sat in the front. by Hendrix
Mr Somerfield came to our school. He showed us the police car. He pushed the button. The siren boomed out. It was noisy.

I love the way these children used interesting words in their writing.

Monarch Butterfly # 2
Our second chrysalis was very black on Friday but the butterfly did not emerge. Mrs S. came into school on Saturday afternoon to check what was happening and the monarch butterfly had emerged! Can you tell if it is a boy or a girl?

Story Writng with Ratty Tatty Cat
Our shared book last week was called Ratty Tatty Cat. We painted Ratty Tatty Cats, and now we are learning to write stories with cats in them. Here is Eva's story that she wrote today...
One day, Sam the cat was playing outside. Suddenly a big brown dog chased Sam up a big green and brown tree. Then her owner said, 'Come down! Come down!' But she fell down and then her owner picked her up and she was safe.
By Eva age 5
We love the way Eva has a problem in her story and then the problem is fixed at the end of the story.

It was such a rainy, wet day yesterday we stayed in the classroom to do our phys-ed. We moved to the music with Jump Jam. Here are some children very focussed on following the moves on the screen.

Sunflowers
There was an enormous sunflower growing in our garden at school. We looked carefully at the sunflower and worked hard to make the petals the proper shape. Here are our masterpieces! We think they look a bit like Vincent van Gogh's sunflowers!

Fire Fighters Visit
The fire fighters from Willowbank came to school on Tuesday. We got to be fire fighters and squirt the fire hose!
Here is a poem our class wrote...
Fire - Fighters Hose
long hose
like a giant jelly snake
curling up like a maze
squirting enormous water waves
like an elephant's trunk
washing the cars
a rainbow of water
splashing and crashing
down to the ground

Cooking from Our Garden
We are such good cooks in Room 10! On Tuesday we dug potatoes, and picked silverbeet and spring onion from the garden, to make a scrumptious frittata. It was a hit judging by the way it disappeared from the plates.
Yesterday we made frittata. First we dug potatoes up. One of the potatoes was massive and one of them was little. We put nine eggs in the frittata.
By Oliver
The frittata was delightful and it was steamy because it was hot. I cut the silverbeet with Clarice. We put the frittata in the pan and we ate it.

Magic Caterpillar Transformation
We were so lucky on Tuesday at the beginning of lunchtime. Ava spied our caterpillar turning into a chrysalis. What a treat to see such an amazing change.
It was so impressive to watch it. Ava spotted the caterpillar turning into a chrysalis. Now there are two chrysalis on our monarch plant. It is very exciting to me. I wonder if Mrs S. is going to buy another caterpillar. The chrysalis is lime green. He did a dance to shake off is skin. I bounded to see the caterpillar turn into a chrysalis!
By Harriet
The caterpillar transformed into a chrysalis. Ava spied it. The caterpillar's skin fell off. It is cool because it will turn into a monarch butterfly.
By Hendrix
Can you spot the caterpillar's old skin in the photo?
