Sorting Out Rubbish
Mrs S. brought her black rubbish bag to school and we helped her sort out her rubbish. She was going to throw it all away!! We sorted it into cardboard recycling, glass recycling, plastics recycling, reusing and landfill groups. Out of all the rubbish, only three things would end up in the landfill. We had to look carefully at the plastics containers to find the number inside the recycling symbol. Only numbers 1 and 2 can be recycled. We are going to reuse the polystyrene cups to make christmas decorations. We had to flatten the cardboard and put it in a plastic bag so it can be recycled.

Green Island Landfill Trip
I wouldn't put batteries in a black plastic bag. At the end we held ketchup bottles. We had to decide which would be the best bottles to use. We chose the ones you could recycle. By Oliver

Dinosaur Link
There are quite a few people who are very interested in dinosaurs in our class. I have finally added a link to our blog, about dinosaurs. A lovely parent sent this link to me quite a while ago and I am only just adding it now. Check out "Our Links" to find it.
Super Spellers
Half of the children in Room 10 all got their spelling right today. They have been practising. Well done super spellers!! We are proud of your efforts.

Finding out about Sound
We have been doing some experiments to find out about how sound travels. We found out that we can feel and hear vibrations when we use a tuning fork, and a string telephone. We found out that sound travels through water and glass.
How does our ear hear these vibrations as sound? Miss Little has a model of an ear that we are going to look at closely, to find out about how our ear hears sound.

Origami Spinning Tops
Syun's grandmother is visiting from Japan. She spent many hours before she came, folding beautiful colourful spinning tops out of paper. She had made one spinning top for each child in the classroom. We think Syun's grandmother is very clever and very generous.
Thank you very much. Arigato gozaimasu. We hope you enjoy your visit to New Zealand.

Careful Listening
Shhhh! Listen carefully. We went outside this afternoon with Miss Little to listen to sounds we could hear. We heard cars, skateboards, birds, hammers, bouncing basketballs, children's voices, leaves rustling...
We are learning about how we hear sound and how it is made with Miss Little. What sounds can you hear at your house?
