Te Awa's puppet
Te Awa had a busy weekend making a ghostie puppet at his Nana's house.
"First you get a box and draw a face on the corner of the box. Then make two pointy hands with three fingers. Cut the face and the hands out and put super glue on the face and the arms and wait for it to dry. Then cut out the nose and get an old head scarf and glue the hands and the face to the head scarf on the sides. Attach it with a long string to a coat hanger. Make the arm string the same size and make the head string a bit shorter. Tie the rope to the coat hanger and make it dance!"
What a clever creation Te Awa. Thanks for bringing it to school and sharing it with the class.

Shadow poems at assembly
This afternoon we shared our shadow poems at assembly. We have been focussing on using adjectives and verbs to make our writing interesting to read. Here are some of our poems...
My shadow is an oval
My shadow is like an octopus
My shadow is black
My shadow can run and jump like a kangaroo
It is like a leopard running as fast as it can
Tom
Mt shadow is black
My shadow is long on the stairs
My shadow is like a spider
My shadow can run very fast like a cheetah
Caitlin
My shadow is shady
My shadow is thin
My shadow is like nana Betty's
My shadow can skip like a kangaroo
It jumps so high it touches the sky
My shadow is long like a snake
My shadow climbs trees like a koala bear
Phaedra
My crazy little shadow
Will always follow me
My shadow jumps really high
My special friend will follow me
He's my shadow

Handwriting Star
Braeden is our handwriting star this week. We are so impressed with how Braeden works really hard to make sure he writes his letters the right way. What a hard worker you are Braeden - keep it up!!

Cultural Day
Yesterday our whole school had a cultural day. People dressed up in clothing from their cultures; we cooked food from different cultures; we watched people performing songs and dances; we shared stories from different cultures and we all shared the food we had prepared.
Today we talked about ways that people express their culture. Maybe you can think of some more.
People express their cultures through...
clothing
dance
language
food
flags
songs
stories
sports
animals
