Butterfly release...
We let our butterflies go yesterday afternoon. We took them outside to the honeysuckle plant outside our classroom. One of them really liked Nehana's red t-shirt!
It was a warm day so we were happy to let the butterflies free in the sunshine. They looked for nectar in the honeysuckle flowers.
It has been amazing to watch the life cycle of the monarch butterflies.

Butterfly twins...
We had the most exciting butterfly day today - both of our butterflies emerged from their chrysalises!! One butterfly sneaked out at morning tea time, but Mrs S. was lucky enough to spot it, and snapped a photo. The other butterfly emerged straight after morning tea and we were able to watch it push its way out of its chrysalis. It was amazing to watch! The wings were all crumpled and folded up, and the butterflies crept up to the top of the swan plant to let their wings unfold and dry out.
Watermelon surprise...
Yesterday was Finn's birthday and he and his mum kindly brought along a whole watermelon for us to share. What a treat! We all showed off how strong we were and passed the watermelon around the circle. It was HEAVY! Then we had a feast of the sweetest watermelon we had ever tasted. Mmmmmmm.....
Thank you Finn!

Ccccc....caterpillar alliteration
We have been learning about alliteration. At writing time we did some shared writing and produced this poem using alliteration. Pretty clever room 10!

Butterfly birth...
Our first butterfly emerged from its chrysalis on Monday morning before we got to school. It was extremely exciting. It stayed in the classroom with us until after lunch. It flapped its wings to dry them, because it is wet inside the chrysalis. We carefully took the butterfly outside and put it on a plant in our herb garden. It was looking for nectar. Fly free little butterfly.

Sunflower Art...
We have amazing sunflowers growing in our school gardens right now. We have looked carefully at them and created our own sunflower paintings. Fabulous work room 10! You impress me.
Sunflowers
Some…
droopy, shy
Hiding their heads
Others tall, like a skyscraper
Like a mighty soldier
Powerful as the sun
An island of sunflowers
A sunflower mountain
Fiery sunflowers
Towering above us !
